The Important Things to Know About Eating and Drinking in Lethbridge is a project about on campus food systems at the University of Lethbridge. Looking at food as an essential of life as well as a key component of community identity and social interaction, the project explored student food security, where and how students ate, and what barriers they faced in accessing food. Using a playful survey about pizza and the convention of naming pizzas after places, DodoLab engaged hundreds of participants in conversations about food on campus. Using the results from the survey two “Lethbridge Pizzas” were designed. Working with the food systems on campus, which was no easy feat, these pizzas were made and served to students during a large community meal in front of the gallery. A small publication with recipes, stories and advice was also shared with students.
